Our Belize team experienced a blessing yesterday as we arrived in Punta Gorda. A lady known only to one of the Belize team has done two things. First, her ministry has blessed us and her ministry is not done. Second, she has provided a beautiful illustration of things I have written lately about Mission Myths.
As we were getting settled into our rooms, one of our members passed out some very colorful packages to every team member. She received the packages from one of her friends. Each package had the name of one of our Belize mission team members printed on the front. In the package is a prayer card for that person for each day of our mission. The prayer cards have Scriptures on them related to the prayer being offered on their behalf.
Others have done similar things for past teams. It is always a blessing for the mission team members. These prayer packages illustrate a beautiful way people can be part of a mission team without actually going with the team. We always have prayer partners taking part in our mission efforts. It is not possible for me to write about it enough or say it too much. God has accomplished great things in this ministry due to the prayers of many, many people.
There is something a little different about the lady who sent us the prayer packages. She is praying for all us every day. She enlisted others to pray for each individual team member. My package has the name of the one who has agreed to pray for me. I have friends and church members praying for me. So do the other team members. That blesses me. I am now blessed to know I am being prayed for by someone I don’t know. The same is true for the whole team. There’s one more thing.
The lady who arranged all this is an MS patient. Part of her exercise and therapy is swimming. Part of her routine is swimming laps. While she swims she is praying for this team. As I said, I don’t know her but I am confident this team is not the only thing she prays for while she’s in that pool!
- Show you the team in a fun setting
- Show you our prayer packages
- Show our thanks to this prayer partner
To this lady, to our families, to our friends, to our church members, and to those we don’t know are praying we say, Thank You! We are in need more than we can ever know. Your partnership in this Belize mission is appreciated. More than that, it’s known in Heaven! And that’s where it matters most because God is answering the prayers His Spirit prompts you to pray.
Soli Deo Gloria!
