Barahona, Dominican Republic – November 2015
This team has a had a challenging, but great, start to a busy week. Do you ever wonder if God is in the little things? Let me assure you, He is!
When we landed Saturday the sky was just an eerie sight. Gigantic claps of thunder and very dark to the west. We loaded ALL the suitcases in the bus. We said, Good-bye to our team members that were headed to La Romana. We left.
We’d only driven 5-6 miles when the rain started. Huge rain storm. I don’t recall rain like this in all my travels to the Dominican Republic. We drove through a great deal of standing water. Side streets looked like little rivers running down toward the boardwalks. Something else was happening that we couldn’t see.
The luggage compartment was taking on water. We learned this when we unpacked. Someone commented, At least we didn’t have to load the bus in the rain! That was true. God spared us that discomfort and we opened everything up and let wet things dry out.
Sunday was a busy ministry day. Various team members attended 3 different churches. We preached in two of them. The pictures and captions below will give you a good idea of our Sunday ministry opportunities in and around Barahona.
Soli Deo Gloria!
