A Promise About Prayer
Do I believe in prayer? Yes. Do I understand everything about it? When you think about the Sovereign God of the universe allowing and encouraging us to come to Him in prayer it’s a mind-boggling thing. He has told us a great deal about prayer in His Word. But I am quite sure He has not told us everything.
One of the things He told us is this:
And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
Prayer for Angel Elias
I want to share some positive events that have already come to light today. But it’s best to share the caution first. No matter you read later in this post, Angel Elias is in serious trouble. He is in desperate need of our prayers. Every day his body gets a little weaker. There are many things that need to be accomplished before the middle of July. Why the middle of July?
Your Father Already Knows
Yesterday I asked you to pray for Angel Elias. It was only this morning that I got an email from an associate at ROW. What we know at this moment is there is a ROW team coming to the DR in July. It’s a medical mission team – like the one working in Samana this week. I’ve been told one the members of that team is a heart surgeon. For that to turn into anything helpful means a number of things have to happen. Many details need to be worked out with many people. But just that news was cause for many happy tears in Samana this morning.
God can accomplish all of the above and then some. He knew before we began praying yesterday that the next team would be here. He knew who was on the team. We didn’t know any of that. While today’s news is not yet an answer, it is encouraging. So today, I am going to ask you to add four things to your prayers for Angel Elias:
- Pray for the medical team that is coming
- Pray for sugeon on the team (I don’t the name yet)
- Pray for medical care in the days until the team arrives
- Pray for Angel Elias’ condition not to decline – he must be healthy enough for surgery
Remember, God knows ahead of time. But He still tells us to ask. So let’s do our part!
