Our Samana mission is unrivaled in many aspects. It’s hard to describe how much potential one week can hold. This week is one of those weeks! Why? Because two things you might never put together combine to create an opportunity to literally send the Gospel around the world.
Samana: Strategic Steps
What’s strategic about a tiny, seaside town in the Dominican Republic? Why should anyone care? First,
remember the strategic steps taken by the Apostle Paul. He didn’t randomly go from town to town in order to spread the Gospel. He planted churches in ports and other major trade centers. Why? That’s where the people were. If they encountered the Gospel in those places, they would take it home with them. And for a brief period each year, that is exactly what can happen in this Dominican town.
From now until early April is whale watching season in Samana. We are going to be working with local pastors and church leaders to help them meet this strategic opportunity. We will be training and equipping them to share the Gospel with the thousands of people who will visit Samana to see the humpback whales. And people who encounter the Gospel in Samana will take it home with them – all over the world!
We have Gospel materials and presentations in Spanish, English, German, French and Italian. We will be training local believers to encounter their visitors with the Gospel. And just let me add, the tools we will place in their hands are innovative as well as creative. We have volunteers eager to be taught and equipped. What do we lack?
Samana: Big Need
What we need now, more than anything, is your prayers. I’ll be posting from Samana all week. You can keep up here or on our Facebook page. Keep up however you can so you can pray as often as you can. And remember, your prayers make you a vital particiapant in this week’s mission!
