When we were invited to Samana last year, we eagerly accepted the invitation and the work began. And the work went very well. After the first session of the Pastors’ School we returned home and anticipated being back soon. However, there were other plans we knew nothing about!
Everyone who went to Samana last year quickly learned to love Pastor Moses, his wife Kenia, and their family. Much to our surprise, and that of pastor Moses, he was reassigned to another church just weeks after we returned to the States. What was to become of the work in Samana?
Mission Resources – They’re In The Harvest!
Our Father often provides for us through the people who are won to faith. ONE great example of that is our friend Lenny. Lenny is not from Samana. We met him in La Romana. He came to faith in Christ through the efforts of ROW mission volunteers. Lenny translated for the Samana team last summer. And when pastor Jerlin became the pastor in Samana, it was Lenny that helped me and pastor Jerlin communicate and plan. The translator we needed was discovered because we faithfully shared the Gospel. Our resource was in the harvest!
In cross-cultural work, one learns to anticipate communication problems (sort of!). Dan and I arrived late today, hoping all was going to be in order. All was in order! We had dinner with Pastor Jerlin. Like most pastors, he married up! Zoila is also a very good cook. We had a great dinner. We also met their beautiful daughters. And even though we didn’t have a translator at dinner, we managed to communicate and had a delightful time.
All is ready for us to meet with the pastors and have a productive week preparing for a Kingdom harvest. And who knows? One of the next people God will use may well be won to faith this week. Please pray, and please tune in here or on our Facebook page to keep up with the week.
